Jabin is a natural electrolyte drink made with real fruit, herbs, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar, and pink Himalayan salt. It is based on sekanjabin, a traditional Persian drink, and comes in three flavors: Cucumber Mint, Pomegranate, and Tart Cherry. Every can is non-carbonated, caffeine-free, and made without artificial sweeteners, synthetic flavors, colors, or preservatives.

Sekanjabin is a Persian drink that has been made for centuries from vinegar, a sweetener, and fresh mint. The name comes from the Persian words for vinegar (serkeh) and honey (angabin). It is traditionally served cold on hot days, often with grated cucumber. Jabin is our take on it, made the way our founder's mom made it at home.

Jabin is short for sekanjabin, the Persian drink our recipe is based on. It rhymes with "cabin": JAB-in.

Jabin was founded by Homayoon Ershadi, a former competitive cyclist based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Growing up, his mom made sekanjabin at home, and he drank it to recover after long training rides. Jabin got its start at farmers markets across the Triangle, and today it is sold at retailers throughout the East Coast.

Jabin works like a sports drink, but it is made like something you would make at home. It replaces the sodium and potassium you lose in sweat, with real fruit and herbs instead of artificial dyes, synthetic flavors, and preservatives. It is light enough to drink any time of day, not just during workouts.

Every Jabin flavor starts with the same base: filtered water, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar, pink Himalayan salt, and a little cane sugar. From there, each flavor adds real fruit or herbs: juiced cucumbers and brewed mint in Cucumber Mint, California-grown pomegranate juice in Pomegranate, and Washington State tart cherry juice in Tart Cherry. Pomegranate and Tart Cherry also include a small amount of monk fruit juice.

Jabin tastes light, crisp, and a little tart, with just enough sweetness to round it out. It is less sweet than most juices and sports drinks, and the apple cider vinegar adds a bright tang rather than a strong vinegar taste. Cucumber Mint is cool and herbal, Pomegranate is juicy and sweet-tart, and Tart Cherry is the boldest and tangiest.

All of our flavors will have a little tang to them, similar to a squeeze of lemon, but that tartness is balanced with fruits, herbs, and a little sweetness. Most people who do not like taking apple cider vinegar straight still enjoy Jabin.

Vinegar is the heart of traditional sekanjabin, so it is the base of every Jabin flavor. We use unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar, the least processed form, which also contributes potassium and gives Jabin its signature bright, refreshing taste.

No. Jabin is sweetened with a small amount of cane sugar, and Pomegranate and Tart Cherry also use a little monk fruit juice to round out the sweetness. There are no artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, or stevia in any Jabin flavor.

No. Every Jabin flavor is non-carbonated and caffeine-free, so you can drink it before, during, or after a workout, or any time of day.

A full can of Jabin has 60 to 70 calories. Cucumber Mint has 60 calories per can, and Pomegranate and Tart Cherry have 70.

Yes, just a little cane sugar. Tart Cherry and Pomegranate have only 5 grams of added sugar per can, and Cucumber Mint has 15 grams for the whole can (40% less than popular sports drinks). 

A small amount of sugar gives your body quick, easy-to-absorb carbohydrates for fuel during and after activity. We keep it low on purpose: enough to be useful but, not so much to make Jabin a sugary drink.

Jabin gets its electrolytes from whole-food ingredients: sodium from pink Himalayan salt and potassium from unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar and fruit. Each can has 250 to 360 mg of sodium and 40 to 140 mg of potassium to help replenish what you lose in sweat. Cucumber Mint has 360 mg of sodium and 40 mg of potassium; Pomegranate and Tart Cherry each have 250 mg of sodium and 140 mg of potassium.

Drink Jabin whenever you want something more refreshing than water: before, during, or after a workout, on hot days, as a caffeine-free afternoon drink, or with a meal. Cyclists, runners, and other endurance athletes often drink it on long rides and runs.

Each Jabin flavor comes in 4-packs and 12-can cases. If you cannot pick a favorite, the Sampler Pack has 2 cans of each flavor (6 cans), and the Variety Pack has 4 cans of each flavor (12 cans). Single cans are available at our farmers market booths and many retail stores.
